1958 Les Paul Restoration
This project started as a simple refinish for an original 1958 Les Paul that had already been refinished in the past. The headstock had been noticeably over sanded, and as a result was very misshapen and curved. Upon closer inspection, there was actually a large crack in the headstock that had been crudely repaired with wood screws, which were hidden underneath wood putty. In order to restore it to vintage specs, the peg head was fully rebuilt by removing the ears, flattening the curved face, and adding a mahogany overlay to bring it to the correct thickness. Once the new ears were grafted on, a new holly overlay and MOP logo were installed, and the guitar was fully refinished NOS Cherry Sunburst.
